Manny Rutinel Wins Democratic Nomination

June 30, 2026

State Representative Manny Rutinel (D-Commerce City) released the following statement regarding the Democratic nomination for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District:

Tonight has shown that the son of a single mom who grew up working at McDonald's and filling out food stamp and Medicaid forms can go on to become an economist in the US Army Corps of Engineers, serve in the Colorado legislature, and now become the nominee for Congress in the most competitive seat in the country.

Gabe Evans voted to gut health care and food assistance for over a million Coloradans, to protect price-hiking tariffs, and to greenlight another forever war that’s driving up gas prices for families. I’m running for Congress to fight for working families like mine: to lower prices on everything from health care to housing to gas to groceries, strengthen and protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, stop corruption, and make the American Dream real again for all.

Thank you to our over sixty five thousand grassroots donors, over one thousand volunteers, our team, and my family for helping make this momentous victory possible.
